hmm...
So, we discussed the fact that teaching in just the style that you yourself would like to be taught makes it so that you're actually missing 75% of your class. One of my professors I think teaches in a way that he believes his correctly, and really he only connects to a few of the seven people in my class. One of them happens to be me, and he's my FAVORITE teacher! He's inspired me to practice and to fall in love with my instrument, and after playing it on and off for 8 years I'm FINALLY starting to enjoy it for myself. And I'll be surprised if the rest of my class doesn't follow along. Do you think that if you do just teach one way, YOUR way, that others that might not learn the best from this fashion might still be able to get it? And if we try and teach all the ways, don't we lose the opportunity to inspire ANYONE? Would you rather have a whole class that survives your course or be able to inspire a few and I guess... hope the others are good enough to catch on? I'm just thinking... i'm not really positive myself right now.

Nice post, and a good question.
We will end up digging in to the whole "learning style" thing in class. One thing you will discover is that although people have one particular way they like to learn best, we all have some components of all the learning styles in us ...some are just emphasized more than others (remember, context is everything). We will deal with your question in much more detail in class...have no fear.
Teaching is like parenting - you do it the best way you see fit. It's up to the people in your class to pick up what they can from it. Hopefully, they will get all the tools they need over time from all the different teachers they will have,
